Welcome to the Tealtown Spring Tune-up Fastpitch Showdown!
May 19 and 20, 2012 Fastpitch Showdowns is happy to be hosting a five game guarantee (10U - 4 games) tournament at Tealtown Park in the Cincinnati area. For those of you who aren't familiar with the Park, it has 18 fields and is managed by an all volunteer organization! Our kudos go out to such a hard-working group of men and women. As a way to help offset the cost of the fields, Tealtown will collect a small admission charge at the gate. Please tell your parents and fans so no one is surprised. The tournament will be geared towards the younger age groups as we know most of the high school teams will still be in their season. Each game will be a full 90 minutes from scheduled start time. It is a perfect time for all the teams to experiment ( we allow you to bat the entire lineup) with the players, and get them ready for the summer season. The format of the tournament will be just two days as we know school is still in session. Each age bracket will be divided into two pools. Each team at 12U and 14U will play 5 pool games (10u will play 4 pool play games). Then the first place teams only in each pool will play in a championship game. These will be the only 2 teams from each age group that will advance as there will be no bracket play. This allows almost every team to know when and where their games are the entire weekend and therefore make travel and other plans accordingly. With the ability to bat the entire line-up and free substitution in the field, it is a perfect format for teams to experiment with what they have and determine how they will play the rest of the year. This is our tentative format and one we believe is most useful early in the season. However, the final format will be determined by the number of teams registered in each age group. The pitching distance at the 14 and under division for this tournament will be 43 feet. So we certainly invite you to come to the tournament and support Tealtown and their efforts. It should be a fun weekend of spring softball. Click on the following links for more Tournament Information
